MEXICO PRISONS
REQUIREMENTS FOR A VISITOR PASS AT LA MESA PENITENTIARY
Who can enter the facility? Family members of the inmate, legal counsel, accredited religious representatives and social workers can visit inmates. Each inmate is permitted a total of 12 registered visitors. Visitors must meet all requirements set forth by the Department of social work in Mexico and solicit authorization.

Visitation dates will be assigned according to inmate’s location.

VISITING DAYS:

Friday: Inmates in Building 2
Saturday: Inmates in Buildings 3 and 4
Sunday: Inmates in Buildings 1, 5, and all of the tanks

VISITING HOURS:

Registration: 8:00- 12:00 (After 12:00 p.m., no enrollment is permitted)
1st hour of departure time: 14:00
2nd and last departure time: 16:00

Requirements for new applications

Original and two copies of the following:

    1. Birth Certificate
    2. Official photographic identification
    3. Proof of residency
    4. 2 photographs, infant size, color with white background

Requirements for renewing an visitor’s pass

    1. Infant size photo of visitor
    2. Existing visitor pass (If applicable)
    3. Picture identification
    4. Location of inmate*

*If the visitor does not know the inmate’s location, lists are available at the prison entrance for reference.

How many people can visit an inmate on family visiting day?

- Maximum 4 people, any combination of adults and children
- An adult must accompany minors under the age of 18

Conjugal visits

Only a person who has met the requirements and is a registered visitor is permitted conjugal visits. The inmate must register the person as a stable partner- marriage or live in partner

Days and hours of conjugal visits:

    - Wednesday, once every 15 days from 8:00- 18:00 hours
    - Limited to 1 1/2 hours

Requirements for conjugal visits:

    1. Marriage Certificate o Prenuptial agreement
    2. Blood test
    3. General Medical Exam
    4. All requirements listed in general visitation

Prohibited Food Items:

    1. Any fruit that can be fermented to create alcohol- pineapple, grapes
    2. Tamales
    3. Burritos
    4. Sandwiches
    5. Tortas
    6. Pizzas
    7. Alcoholic beverages

General Prohibited Items:

    1. Cellular telephones
    2. Pagers
    3. Cash
    4. Handbags
    5. High-heeled shoes with heel measuring more than three centimeters
    6. Skirt or dress above the knee
    7. Black or navy blue pants
    8. Electric devices
    9. Firearms or items with sharp tips (scissors, knives, picks, nail clippers, ect.)
    10. Jewelry
